Nestled among the verdant folds of the Palani Hills at a height of over 2000 meters, Kodaikanal is one of the most popular hill stations of South India. With its wooded slopes, panoramic views, placid lakes, enchanting waterfalls, variegated flora, bracing, salubrious climate and laid back life style, Kodai is the place to be any time of the year.
Kodaikanal has a pleasant climate throughout the year, with summer temperatures ranging from a minimum of 11.3ºC to a maximum of 19.8ºC, and winter temperatures from a minimum of 8.3ºC to a maximum of 17.3ºC. The hill station receives an average annual rainfall of 165 cms. The best time to visit Kodaikanal is from April to June and from September to October
About a kilometre's walk from Kodai Lake is Coaker's Walk, which derives its name from Lt. Coaker, who prepared the map of Kodai.
Situated on the eastern side of the lake, the park is noted for its variety of flowers, both hybrids and grafts. There is also a green house which contains fine.
This flora and fauna museum located 5.5 km from the lake and maintained by the Sacred Heart College.
Located at a distance of 21-km from Kodaikanal, Berijam Lake is a star shaped water body spread over an area of 24 hectares.
Located about 7 km from the kodaikanallake, this is an outcrop of three rocks magnificently jutting out into the sky to a height of about 400 feet.
This waterfall is to be found on the road leading to Madurai and is about 8 km from Kodaikanal. The overflow from Kodai Lake comes down here from a height.
So named because it once attracted bears, it is a favourite picnic spot, about 1.6 km from the lake, and 2 km from the bus stand.
Situated 3 km from Kodai Lake, this is a famous shrine dedicated to lord Muruga. This temple is associated with Kurinji, a flowering plant that blooms.
